Unique Approach Family Therapy

Tamara Booker, LSWAIC, CMHS

My name is Tamara Booker and I am a Licensed Social Work Associate Independent Clinical and a Child Mental Health Specialist. I primarily provide family therapy in Richland, WA. I am also open to working individually with youth ages 14 and up, as well as parents or caregivers who need additional support.

I graduated from Eastern Washington University with my Master's degree in Social Work. In addition to private practice, I work for Lutheran Community Services providing supervision to Youth and Family Peer Support Specialists for the Wraparound with Intensive Services Program. I previously served as a Family Peer Support Specialist and Lead Care Coordinator at Lutheran as well.

Participating in the Wraparound program with my own family, prior to working at Lutheran, allows me to relate with families and the challenges they are navigating. The continued education and experience working with families from many different cultural backgrounds has helped me to support families in very individualized ways. Utilizing my social work values, work experience, and lived experience, I love to help families see the strengths that they have and help them strengthen their bonds and increase communication. I aid families by providing psychoeducation and therapeutic support to build new skills to overcome the challenges.

My hope is for families to find their purpose in life, both together as a family and as individuals. I believe that it can be difficult to move forward in the world today without connections. I believe that if we have the support of others, who truly understand us, we can accomplish our goals in life.
